“Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world”
-Nelson Mandela
We believe that Education’s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one. We are of the conviction that giving roots of values is significant so that our students remain firmly rooted to the ground. We give them wings of ambition, so that they can soar like falcons to touch the skies and endeavour to make them global citizens who can look beyond geographical boundaries and promote a culture of peace and universal brotherhood.
Children acquire skills and knowledge easily if we can make the surrounding stimulating and purposeful. Our philosophy of education, at MRIS 51 has always been meeting the needs of the individual child. The curriculum takes on a student-centred approach, where learning skills, problem solving, communication and critical thinking are of paramount importance. Teachers ignite curiosity and the desire to learn rather than routinely load children with academic burden, a methodology that turns learning into a combination of classroom study, research and scientific discovery. If innovation and novel ideas are a key to a bright future, then we can surely remain assured of our place under the pedagogic sun.
Let us think of education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone and greater strength for our nation.
Having been an educator for several years, I keenly support the pivotal, proactive role an educational organisation of repute plays in today’s society. I feel honoured to be in charge of a seat of learning that can mould the most significant resource of any nation — young, impressionable human minds.
I believe that the approach to motivating and getting the best out of the children is based on the positive reinforcement of good work and good behaviour with a philosophy which centres on praise, encouragement, enthusiasm, fun and affection rather than criticism, fear and punishment. Nevertheless, nothing worthwhile can be achieved without a sense of discipline and thus we will prepare them to conform to high disciplinary standards and to cherish the values of tolerance, fair play, compassion, and independent thinking.
I along with my MRIS team pledge to work for every child, be a compass that activates the magnets of curiosity , knowledge and wisdom in our students and in the process , open new vistas in the area of education.
