The festival Basant Panchami was celebrated with full zeal at Manav Rachna International School, Ludhiana (MRIS, Ldh). From the freely flowing bright yellow fields to the humble pottery and plants, everything seems to be bidding goodbye to the winter blues and welcoming the bountiful spring with open arms. That’s the beauty of the festival of Basant Panchmi. The campus was bedecked and ready to bedazzle in yellow as the teachers and students were all dressed in yellow colour attire.
A special Assembly was conducted to share the importance of the festival with the students. The day started with the rendition of Saraswati Vandana and Saraswati Poojan by Principal Dr. Rupali Saini and other teachers. The programme was followed by a song and a beautiful poem. The students enjoyed the marvellous weather and fabulous performance put up by their friends. The function culminated with a dance performance regaling the students with a song about the various colours and cheers of Basant.
The pre-primary and the primary classes participated whole heartedly. An inter class display board activity was organised for the primary classes on the theme – The king of festivals- Basant.
Dr.Rupali Saini, Principal explained the importance of this day to the students. She said that festivals signify the happiness and come to brighten up our lives and bless us. She added that this festival is a reminder that one must be a consistent learner for a lifetime. The festivities ended on a sweet note with everyone enjoying Ladoos and sumptuous yellow food.
