Educational and recreational visits are undertaken from time to time to refresh and rejuvenate students from the tedium of studies. Excursion is always a delight for the students. To provide an opportunity to the students for the development of their aesthetic sense, power of observations, exploration, judgment and drawing inferences, an excursion programme to Amritsar for 3 days was recently organised by the school. A total of 53 students along with 6 teachers and School Principal attended the same.
Amritsar being an adventurous, cultural and patriotic city. Students learned about various historical, religious and cultural values.
On Day 1, the students were taken to Durgiana Temple also known as the Lakshmi Narayan temple, dedicated to Goddess Durga.
On Day 2, the students visited Jallianwala Bagh where they recollected the historical massacre that took place inside the bagh. They saw the bullet marks still imprinted on one of its walls and the Martyr’s well where innocent people jumped to save their lives. After visiting the Jallianwala Bagh they visited Golden Temple surrounded by the holy water body and were completely mesmerized by its beauty and splendor. They realized the power of faith and discipline on seeing a huge number of devotees lined up in queues to enter the temple.
In the evening they all visited India –Pakistan Wagah Border. At the Wagah Border, the ceremony took place in complete patriotic fervour and instilled the feeling of pride of being an Indian amongst each one present there. The students witnessed the complete ‘Beating Retreat border ceremony’.
On Day 3, the Students visited Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala. It was intended to inculcate scientific aptitude and temperament, to fire the imagination and creativity and foster the spirit of enquiry and exploration in the young minds. They explored space theatre, earthquake stimulator , moon watch , physical, applied, natural and social sciences, health sciences, energy, industries, human evolution and civilization, the environment and ecosystem.
This trip was refreshing and entertaining but at the same time also laid a foundation for learning and gave the students memories to cherish for the life time.
