Manav Rachna International School acknowledges the significance of role played by parents in the progress and development of the students. The School keeps undertaking ventures that support an effective Parent Participation Programme. Under the Parent Participation Programme, a workshop for the parents was organised on 4th October, 2016 in the School.The resource persons for the workshop were Ms. Goldy Malhotra, Director- Academic Staff College and Administration, MRIS and Dr. Kevin Patrick, Head of Academic Excellence Team, MRIS.
Ms. Goldy Malhotra apprised the parents about CREST and shared that from Pre -school onwards, CREST (Culture in Retrospect for Evolution of Society with Technology) curriculum, a fully integrated subject that embraces the Social evolution through Arts, Music, Drama, History, Mathematics, Science and Technology from Pre-historic time to the 21st century is meticulously woven into the fabric of studies. The choices of Foreign Languages (Spanish, German, French) along with Sanskrit and other Indian Regional Languages give another facet to the Global Studies.
Dr. Kevin also shared some information about CREST and explained that the curriculum of Crest is enriched with activity based learning. The students undertake series of activities based on the themes of the modules like Inca’s sun, Puma Mask, Renaissance Wall and booklet, Taino Mask, Globe Theatre, Mona Lisa sketch and Tudor House as a part of their learning spree during the CREST sessions. Eight such sessions are conducted in a week.
CREST aims at developing thinking skills of the students. CREST is synonymous to fun learning. The students are acquainted with knowledge all around the world so they are globally connected; they enjoy every bit of the CREST sessions. The parents participated enthusiastically in the workshop and were overwhelmed to learn about CREST. Some of them even remarked that they are envious of the students who undergo CREST. The elated parents even mentioned that their children are fortunate to be a part of MRIS.
