The greatest art in the world is the art of Storytelling. Storytelling is a great way of transmitting ideas. It is an important part of early childhood education as it provides the necessary ingredients to broaden a child’s imagination. It also helps build a strong foundation of meaningful and experiential learning by building their vocabulary and inculcating love for books and stories. Keeping this in mind, the concept of home was introduced through the story of “Goldilocks and the three bears” for little learners of Nursery. The tiny tots thoroughly enjoyed an interactive storytelling session done by the teachers which gave them an opportunity to learn about different rooms in the house and also explained the importance of the protective environment of home.

Show and Tell Activity by KG
“If you love something, tell the world about it.”
It is important for growing children to express and communicate their thoughts and feelings. As an effort to develop this skill, kindergarteners participated in ‘Show and Tell’ activity wherein children brought their favourite toys to school and spoke a few lines about them. They were thrilled to showcase their valuable possessions like soft toys, superhero lunch boxes, bottles, etc. This activity helped in boosting their confidence as they learnt to communicate feelings, thoughts and emotions with words.
Mothers’ Day Celebration – 2019
“To the world you are a Mother, but to your family you are the world.”
Mother’s Day is an august occasion to express our gratitude and appreciation for that pillar of support in our lives for whom words of thankfulness are not sufficient. It’s a celebration honouring our mother, as well as motherhood, maternal bond and influence of mothers in society. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the students of Grade V visited the Badshahpur Government Primary Girls School, Gurugram, under the aegis of Dr. O. P. Bhalla Foundation. A special assembly was organised highlighting the aspect that ‘of all the gifts that life has to offer, a loving and caring mother is the greatest of them all.’ The students from both MRIS-46 and Badshahpur sang soulful songs dedicated to their mothers and were supported by their teachers who enthusiastically sang along. They also participated in a poem recitation. A smile on each student’s face made it an event to cherish and helped to ascertain that as ‘God could not be everywhere, therefore he made mothers.’
Mothers’ Day Celebration at Mohna School
The students of Senior Secondary Girls School, Mohna felt very special as they celebrated Mothers’ Day in the school. Teachers explained the significance of celebrating mother’s day, i.e. to show gratitude to mothers for what all they have done for us and it can never be repaid in any way but by thanking her. The students of Grade IV-V made beautiful cards for their mothers and penned down their feeling for her. It was heartwarming to see students writing beautiful words for their mothers.

Hats off to Mothers!- Mother’s Day celebration
There are not enough words in the world to praise the boundless love of mothers.
Our moms are our first superheroes. In awe of their abilities, with immense respect in their heart, the early years celebrated Mother’s Day by honouring their various roles in our lives on the theme- ‘Hats off to Mothers’. All classes in EY chose different hats, representing roles performed by Moms (Santa, Designer, Party planner, Nature lover, Super Mom, Detective, Chef and Creative Mom). The classes had fun activities planned according to their theme. Moms did the mom-thing by bringing treats and gifts for their kids (desserts, detective tools, designer bags, floral jewelry/tiara, and surprise gifts). Music and Dance performances added to the celebratory mood. Mother and child Ramp Walk turned out to be a hit. Children expressed their gratitude by presenting hats and key chains to their mothers.

Stranger Danger Workshop
“The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.”
Teaching children about “stranger danger” is the need of the hour. It is all about teaching students about possible dangers they may face as they go out in the world on their own. Therefore, with a motive of creating awareness about “Stranger danger”, a workshop was organized for Early Years at MRIS-14, Faridabad by the school counselor to spread awareness among children about safety from strangers.
She held an interactive session with the children to make them learn and practice a wide range of basic skills to keep them safe in their surroundings. She told them about basic safety measures to be taken in presence of the strangers. It not only boosted their confidence but also made them aware of different ways to react (across situations) as they mature.
Students of Grade VI- VIII visited RO Treatment Water Plant in the School Premises
“We shall not defeat any of the infectious diseases that plague the developing world until we have also won the battle for safe drinking water, sanitation and basic health care”.
– Nelson Mandela
Understanding the gravity of the pressing problem of clean water and sanitation which has plagued us universally, MRIS- 14, Faridabad has geared up in full swing to work on the grassroots level to sensitize students about the same. Our young technophiles have left no stone unturned to realize the Sixth Sustainable Development Goal to fruition. Bearing the flagship of this drive, the over-enthusiastic kiddos from Grade 6th, 7th and 8th visited the RO treatment water plant installed in the school’s premises, to decipher its working mechanism. This site visit aided the learners to understand how the pH level of water differs before and after being filtered. Moreover, they were briefed about how water is processed in the machine, stored and transported to the entire campus.

Kids engrossed in UNSDG Annual Project
“Tell me and I forget,
Teach me and I may remember,
Involve me and I learn”.
We at MRIS-51, Gurugram truly believe in the above lines once quoted by “Benjamin Franklin” and try to implement the same while carrying out the collaborative learning process in our classrooms. A great initiative in this regard has been taken by the institution by starting the Annual Projects that focus on various UNSDGs (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals) that would help in bringing awareness amongst our students and will help them think beyond the course books.
With regards to this, the students of Grade IV and V of Wild Cats Clan were seen working on the UNSDG 7, project assigned to them. Students could be seen engrossed in reviewing, analyzing and finding inferences from the electricity bills. They were also engaged in activities like poster making, role play, declamation, poem, preparing questionnaire, etc. It was indeed a visual treat seeing beaming and enthusiastic faces utilizing their imaginative skills and power to a level which was far beyond our imagination. We look forward to much more coming up.

International Family Day 2019 Celebration
‘Having a place to go is a house, having someone to love is a family and having both is a Blessing’.
Family is an intimate bonding that binds the souls together with unconditional love, affection and care. MRIS Ludhiana celebrated the auspicious Family Day with great fondness and enthusiasm. The students of Nursery and KG creatively illustrated this close knit connection through ‘My Own Family Tree’ decorated by pasting pictures of their family members as a cherishable memory.
The framework of values and ethics embedded in the siblings were explicitly manifested. The strong emotional connect transpired as the tiny angels embraced their alma maters with affection. This moment was commemorated with a take away craft as a fond memory to adore.
MRIS Mentors appreciated the efforts of the students to array their artistic patterns and perceive family as their absolute kingdom.
