6th Inter Manav Rachna Sports Championship

img_8423Bedecked with tales of indomitable strength and courage to cross the finishing line with panache, the closing ceremony of 6th Inter Manav Rachna Sports Championship [2016-17] was a spectacle to behold. The two-day mega event hosted by MRIS-14, Faridabad at the plush Manav Rachna Sports Academy witnessed the overwhelming participation of more than 2000 students from the age groups of eight to nineteen. Competing neck to neck in thirteen different disciplines of sports such as Basketball, Volleyball, Shooting, Skating, Swimming, Table Tennis, Badminton to name a few, the young sports enthusiasts proved their mettle by surmounting all the levels of difficulties to clinch their moment of glory.  The momentous occasion was graced by the Chief Guest of the day, Dr. Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI with the distinguished Guest of Honour, Mr. Sarkar Talwar, Director, Sports, MRIU and Mr. Verma, Proctor, MRIS-14. Post the green welcome extended to the dignitaries, Ms. Mamta Wadhwa, Principal, MRIS-14 offered her heartiest gratitude to the students, teachers and the trainers whose tireless efforts had amounted to the success of this unique enterprise. Mr. Talwar reminisced how the humble initiative undertaken over the past five years had gradually blossomed and flourished in providing the ebullient lot an opportunity to hone their sportsmanship and create positive sports ethos.

img_8362Lauding the contribution of our visionary founder, Dr. O.P. Bhalla in nurturing young talents in building team-spirit, enhancing their skills in cooperation and leadership, the budding athletes were enthused to ‘play to participate and play to win’.  Deeply appreciating the increase in the parent involvement in sports, Dr. Amit Bhalla exulted in the accolades won by the young students of MRIS across several distract, national and international level competitions. The spirit of bonhomie and camaraderie espoused by the competition was celebrated in the foot-tapping dance number presented by the effervescent students of MRIS-14. Over 350 winners were felicitated with certificates, medals and trophies for emerging triumphant in various feats.  MRIS-14 bagged the top prizes for Basketball, Table Tennis and Badminton whereas MRIS-Charmwood bagged trophies for excellence in Shooting, Chess, Carom, Martial Arts and Volleyball. While MRIS-46 won prizes for Football, Cricket, Gymnastics and Swimming, MRIS-21, Faridabad won laurels in Skating.
